Tiscali has cut the TV installation fee from £99 to £30, it was reported. This special offer would make the triple-play broadband offerings from the ISP cheaper and attractive to the customers.

Tiscali offers two broadband bundles that include its TV pack.

Tiscali broadband, Weekend calls and TV: This triple-play broadband package offers 8Mb broadband with 12 month contract costing £19.99 per month.

Tiscali Broadband, Anytime Calls and TV: This bundle offers 8Mb broadband with Anytime call plan with Tiscali TV. When you take this bundle on 12 month contract, it will cost £24.99 per month.

Both these bundled broadband deals come with free line rental and reduced set up cost (just £30).

Plusnet ISP has reduced the length of the contracts of its broadband offerings from 12 to 18 months.

The cancellation policy has also been amended by the ISP. According to the new policy, Plusnet customers can terminate their service at anytime without the need to pay for the outstanding subscription that they owe to the provider. However, they would need to pay for just any setup cost or for any hardware they took durig the contract.

New cancellation policy would apply to new Plusnet home broadband customers as well as the existing customers.

PlusNet currently offers broadband only and broadband & home bundles to its customers. Its broadband packages include evening and weekend local, national calls to customers as well as 300 minutes of international calls.

Orange, UK mobile broadband announced a special offer for students.

Students can get free vouchers worth £20 when they buy selected Orange mobile broadband deals on 24 month contract.

New customers who sign  up for Orange Mobile broadband offers with Toshiba L300 and the Compaq Mini 110 laptop or the ISP’s broadband dongle offers will get this special offer, Orange said.

Orange Mobile broadband offers up to 3.6Mbps download speed and its mobile broadband deals with laptops come with 1GB monthly usage allowance at monthly price of £24.47.

Mobile broadband dongle offers from Orange cost  £9.79 per month and are available with three usage caps – 1GB, 3GB and 10GB.

UK broadband ISP, BE introduced a convenient 9 month contract with its its Be Unlimited and Be Pro packages. This special offer is available until 16th October.

BE says this new short-term contract option is perfect for the students who return to university these two months. Likewise, the new customers do not need any voucher code. Price of these two broadband deals (BE unlimited and Pro) will be same on 12 or 9 months contracts,  BE clairfied in a statement. Not students, but anyone can signup for the new contract.

BE broadband provider offers three packages – BE value, BE Unlimited and BE Pro. You get unlimited monthly downloads on all BE deals and both BE Unlimited and Pro
offer super-fast 24Mbps download speeds.

The recent broadband survey conducted by Office for National Statistics (ONS) shows that there are 18.31 million UK homes having access to internet in 2009, while 16.5 million UK households have their own broadband connection.

The number of UK households that go online have increased by 1.85 million during the last year. Home broadband connections grew at 17 %  from 14.14 million in 2008 to 16.5 million in 2009, the study revealed.

Most of the internet users (94 %) used to go online at home while the users of public wi-fi hotspots increased to 2.5 million in 2009 from just 700,000 a couple of years ago. This was due to the stupendous growth in wi-fi hotsptos UK. Broadband  providers like BT have set up hundreds of wi-fi hotspots in major cities in UK.

Around 90 % of the internet connectivity in was offered by broadband, an increase from 69 % from 2006. The number of UK adults who accessed internet in 2009 were 37.4 million, while 96% of the internet users belonged to the 16-24 years age group. Majority of the internet users (73%) accessed internet daily. The younger people were more regular than older age group in terms of internet activities and online habits.

Most of the broadband internet usage was related to emails (90%) while more than two-thirds used broadband internet to access social networking sites featureing blogs, chat and news group. About 64% of the UK broadband users went onine shopping while many people were also found using internet for VoIP call making, online music, videos etc.

BT broadband provider will offer three months free broadband for the new cutomers who buy BT broadband packages online for a minimum 12 month contract. This new incentive has been relaunched by the ISP and will be available to all customers who go for BT broadband or bundles (broadband, phone and BT Vision). However, BT’s mobile broadband customers (BT Home & Away) cannot avail this offer. Getting 3 month free broadband would help BT customers to save more than £55, BT said.

BT recently extended its mobile dongle offer to benefits its mobile broadband customers, though.

Super-fast broadband ISP, O2 has announced the extension of its two month free broadband offer. O2 has been offering new customers of its Standard, Premium and Pro broadband packages with two month free broadband. This offer is now extended till 31st August, O2 said.

O2 Standard broabdand deals is now available at £12.23 for non-O2 mobile customers while the same package cost gets cheaper (£7.34 per month) for O2 mobile customers. New customers of Premium and Pro packages would save £29.36 and £44.04 respectively due to the two month free broadband offer.

O2 Standard broadband customers get 8Mbps speeds while Premium and Pro customers get high-speed connection speeds (20Mbps).

UK broadband provider, PlusNet has revamped its business broadband plans with new price structure, according to a report.

Plushas business users can choose business phone rental when they go for business broadband with the provider. The phone line rental will start at £13 per month. There is also price variation depending on the geographical location of the users, the feature which is already available with PlusNet consumer broadband products.

Currently, PlusNet ISP offers three packages for businesses and home workers – Business Option 1, Business Option 2 and Business Option 3. All these packages come with download speeds of 8Mbps and 12 or 24 month contrac length.

With PlusNet business broadband services, you also get static IP and 4 port wireless router free of cost.

UK’s top broadband provider, the Carphone Warehouse has released the interm financial statement for the first quarter, 2009. The Carphone Warehouse currently, owns AOL UK and TalkTalk internet service providing companies and the main susidiary, TalkTalk is reported to have added 47,000 new broaband customers, according to the latest figures available. Now, TalkTalk has 2.85 million broadband subscribers in the UK.

It should be noted that TalkTalk has acquired Tiscali UK broadband provider in May that cost the ISP over £236m, it was earlier reported.

However, comparing to previous quarter figures, the net addition of broadband customers shows a significant decline. TalkTalk had made 74,000 new additions to its broadband customers during last quarter and the net addition of 47,000 new subscribers during this quarter shows 50 percent fall in growth in broband subscriptions.

Charles Dunstone, the CEO of TalkTalk said:

“TalkTalk Group is trading well, in line with our expectations. We added 47,000 net new customers to our broadband base and average customer spend is up 5% year-on-year. We migrated a further 59,000 customers onto our own network in the quarter and we now have 79% of all our broadband customers on our unbundled network, leveraging the superior economics that it gives us.

TalkTalk’s leading value proposition and strong customer service clearly continue to resonate strongly in today’s marketplace, and churn has declined significantly year-on-year and remains low.”

By the first week of July, TalkTalk was said to have complted the takeover of Tiscali UK division. However, TakTalk can add the number of Tiscali broadband customers to its customer base during the second quarter and the next quarterly statement from TalkTalk provider will be announed in the first week of October, 2009.

Virgin Media, the UK cable broadband provider completed its next generation broadband roll out (DOCSIS 3.0 network) that will allow 12 million Virgin broadband customers to get 50Mbps super-fast broadband from June. The nation-wide broadband service will have no traffic management, Virgin reported. Virgin Media’s top pacakge XXL will also go cheaper from September.

Regarding the new broadband service, Virgin Media’s Executive Director Jon James said:

“As the first company to bring broadband to the UK ten years ago, the completion of our next-generation network marks another pioneering moment for internet access in the UK. We are delighted with the performance and reliability of our 50Mb service, and with the customer feedback. Now the roll-out is days from being complete, we’re ready to take 50Mb to the next stage of development and reinforce our leading position in the broadband market.”

Virgin Media has also slashed the price of its Virgin Media XXL (50Mbps broadband deal) from £50 a month to £38 a month (deal without Virgin Phone). If taken with phone service, the new price of this package will be £28 per month.Virgin Media cheap broadband deals will be available from September and make Virgin Media’s top package more affordable to many customers, it is expected.

UK’s top Cable ISP has also announced its trial higher uptream service which is likely to be launched in near future. Initially, Virgin will offer 10Mbps upload speeds in demand areas to get market feedback, it was reported. The trial service would also help Virgin Media to work on pricing and other technical issues. It should be noted that Virgin Media’s 200 Mbps trial is underway in areas in Kent.

Virgin Media has also introduced free Netbook offer with selected fixed line broadband and mobile broadband packages. The Freedom Netbook (Intel Atom 1.6GHz processor) that comes with these packages worth £300 and has support for 802.11n wireless standard. 

Virgin Media’s latest price cuts and free laptop offer will certainly add great value to the existing deals. The next generation broadband roll out and the discounts in prices, will make the offers from the UK’s fastest ISP to sound more attractive to customers who are looking for cost-effective, high-speed services. 

 customers who are looking for cheap faster broadband services may consider Virgin Media’s new offers.

Vaioni, a business broadband provider is to roll out 2Mbps leased line for the business firms who are based in Manchester and Liverpool, according to a report. The new product will cost £375 per month exclusive of VAT. However, the clients who sign up for the deal will get nearly 100 percent service level agreement(SLA) and also a DSL backup connection. The leased line can be installed within a fortnight, Vaioni says.
